One of 1488 remote control books

While my stay at Sagmeister Inc. we created the design of CULTURE, a book describing the BMW Group's international cultural commitment. The limited edition of 1488 hand-signed copies, which are not available for sale, is based on an unconventional concept: CULTURE also features an integrated, remote-controlled car, a book that can be driven around. Big Time!

As a whole, the numerical arrangement of all book covers would make a square measuring 7x7 metres depicting a graphically abstracted image of the legendary BMW "four cylinder" building from a bird's eye view. Consequently, each book cover becomes a fragmented, unique specimen.

To get really simple but graphically strong book covers we designed a 2 colors illustration of BMW headqurters.

The book contains cultural activities of BMW on 80 pages:

The Inspiration of the design/artwork arrives from:

BMW Headquarter Munich

The company headquarters in Munich built by Karl Schwanzer in 1972 right before the Olympic Games. Its nickname: "BMW-Vierzylinder" means "BMW four-cylinder".
